Jack

My precious Jack. I will never forget the first time we met. You were so skinny, so neglected. All you wanted was love and affection and I had the hardest time touching you – you were nothing but bones. I took you home from the shelter on Christmas Eve 2007 and you were instantly a part of our family. I was told that you would only survive 1-3 years. After so many years of neglect, your kidneys just couldn’t take anymore. You had so much bad in your life. I was glad I was able to give you your last three years of wonderful! You knew love before you died.

You truly are an amazing boy. You would sit at the top of the stairs and wait for me to come home from work so that I could take you for our nightly walk. You would scream and scream at me until I took you for a ride in the car – where you could sit on my lap and look out the window. Oh how people use to laugh when they’d see that. You were so much like a dog it was scary

You will forever be missed. I am grateful you had the opportunity to know that not all people are cruel. You had the opportunity to know that love really does exist and you got the chance to know what it fells like to be a part of a family. I am glad I was with you till the end. It was tough but, I know you are better now. No more long nights together on the couch, you and I. I love you Jack – Please be good in heaven. Grandma doesn’t take to kindly to her feet being bitten.
