Edwardo, “The Cat in the Sac”
Edwardo arrived at the shelter in February of 1999. He was wonderful, but the longer he stayed with us, the more withdrawn and reclusive he became. How could I make people believe he is a great cat when he won’t even come out of his sac? Edwardo was our “mystery man.”
We had taken this happy, well-adjusted cat, dropped him in a shelter, and mixed him with 20 other cats. We simmered him in a sac for 16 months. Voila! We had come up with the perfect recipe for destroying Edwardo. No matter how many times people came to see the cats, he was never chosen to go to a real home.
One day, two loving, caring people gave Edwardo another chance. Before long, he found himself again and emerged a happy, confident cat. I was so happy! Isn’t it amazing what love can do!
Edwardo has a perfect little wishbone on his chest. That’s probably there because I wished so hard for him to have a home!
I am invincible,
I am loved,

Update on Edwardo, January 2002
Edwardo came down with diabetes 9 months after he was adopted by Judy and Brian Frew of Worcester, MA. Then Edwardo developed ketoacidosis (a complication of high blood sugar). Luckily, Dr. Moss of Central Animal Hospital in Leominster saved our boy.
Judy says, “…that was scary – we almost lost him. He was in the hospital for ten days, but they brought him back! We went to visit him every day.”
How is Edwardo now, you ask? Judy says, “He is as playful as ever and is always making us laugh.”
Update on Edwardo, January 2003
Judy Frew reports, “Edwardo is doing wonderfully. He just went for his 6 month physical last week…He sure does make us laugh with the silly things he does. He’s a clown.”

It takes a lot of people pulling together to make success stories like Edwardo’s a reality. If our cats are never offered a home, they can live at the shelter for the rest of their lives. They will receive lots of love, and all the care and comfort they need. But we need your help to do this.
